Glorious Manhood
ON THE THIRD Sunday of every month the quaint West Sussex village of Sidlesham plays host to one of the south coast’s most impressive up-and-coming classic car clubs, the Manhood Classic Car Enthusiasts. From humble beginnings, Manhood Classic Car Enthusiast meet-ups now boast upwards of 50 classic and retro cars in attendance every month.
Last year, I was fortunate enough to attend the club’s annual summer show in Selsey (of Selsey Bill fame) and ever since I’ve been trying to find an excuse to visit one of their monthly meet-ups.
Yesterday, with no family ties, breakfast clubs or any other commitments, I finally found that excuse and I wasn’t disappointed. The turnout was very impressive – as too was the sheer volume of cars for such a local meet-up – and the tea, coffee and bacon sandwiches were all available at refreshingly un-Goodwood like prices.
My club favourites consisted of a very humble Hillman Minx, a Porsche 550 replica and a glorious brown 1972 Ford Taurus GXL, but enough from me, let’s let the photos do the talking…
