Retro F1 Fever

Words: on 23/01/2012 – 8:09 pmOne Comment

It seems that fans of classic F1 are enjoying a bit of a honeymoon period. If last year saw the epic film ‘Senna’ hit the big screen, then 2012 is clearly just going to fan the flames of retro F1 fever.

First up, is some unmissable super rare Ayrton Senna automobilia which Silverstone Auctions will be putting under the hammer at Race Retro on 25th February.

Ayrton Senna Automobilia - What would you sell to own this?

There’s a fully authenticated race suit that the great man wore in the 1991 season (guide price £20-30,000) and a race helmet (guide price £40-50,000) too. Start placing your bets to see if these estimates will be shattered by fans who are still buzzing from the glow of the aforementioned biographic film.

Secondly, talking of films and F1, director Ron Howard has just started filming ‘Rush’ at the Nürburgring which is all about the 1976 championship battle between Niki Lauda and James Hunt. It’s set for release later this year, but here is a sneaky preview of what the film crew has been up to.
