Amid the hospital-wing priced exotica at next week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (28th June – 1st July), there’s a tasty line up of racing saloons from all manner of different formulae.
Keeping it retro, will be the awesome Klaus Ludwig Zakspeed Ford Capri, the 1984 BMW 635CSI and TWR Jaguar XJ-S, a 1970 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTAm and 1995 155 DTM, DTV’s ‘Old Nail’ and ‘Baby Bertha’ plus a 1986 Thundersport Vauxhall Carlton TS6000.
Contemporary saloon racers will include current BTCC stars Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden in the Honda Civic, along with Frank Wrathall in the Toyota Avensis. Meanwhile, the Nissan Leaf Nismo RC will also be among the first electric racing cars to compete against the clock for a timed run up the 1.16-mile Goodwood hillclimb. (So do bring along a chair and a good book for that one, because that car will probably take longer than a celebrity coming clean about their tax arrangements.)
