Posted ImagePosted ImageThe K70, a potted history!

Q, When is a VW not a VW?

A, When It's a K70!!

The reason being VW had nothing what so ever to do with the desighn of the car, as it bought NSU in 1969 with the production of the 'NSU K70' just about to start. A simple badge change at first, and the VW K70 was born.
The early cars where given the 70 hp 1600cc motor later increased to the 1800cc 100 hp engine,which mine is one.

K = Kolben (Piston)

70 = hp

The car was a first in a few different ways for VW, first watercooled car, first front wheel drive car, the engine was at the front too, crazy stuff!!

Of the 220,000 or so cars built in the five year run, very few survive, this being the range topping LS and in RHD version, you wont be seeing another one anytime soon.

I'm even starting to bore myself now,so I'll post some pics of the car when I found it in Devon and trailored it back to Cornwall. I'll pic the story up later.

Cheers.

Oh happy days!
